Highlights: Elder sister of Myra Joyce Baker, Nita enlisted on 11 Feb 1943 aged 20 years old. After completing basic training and a mess steward’s course, Nita was also allocated as a mess stewardess and was sent to Evans’ Head (1 Bombing & Gunnery School) on 17 Apr 1943. She moved to 5 Service Flying Training School Uranquinty on 14 Aug 1943. Promoted to CPL on 5 Nov 1944, Nita was posted to HQ Southern Area (Melbourne) on 28 Sep 1945, before being discharged on 2 Apr 1946. Nita married Maxwell James Anderson in 1953 at Crookwell. Nita was still living in Crookwell in 1994, when she applied for and received her medals.
