Thora Mercy Teresa Norris nee Bourke

Highlights: Daughter of George Herbert Bourke and Selena A Marmont. Thora had been training as a Telegraphist with V.E.N.T.S in her own time while working at the AWA radio factory. She enlisted on 3 Dec 1942, aged 19 years. After completion of basic training and telegraphy school in Melbourne, she was posted to Brisbane WT Station in June 1943. Posted to 3 AD RAAF Amberly in Aug 1944, where she met and married her husband SGT Eric Malcom Norris. Thora discharged in Oct 1945. Her husband remained in the RAAF, training as a pilot, and was commissioned as an Officer. He resigned from the RAAF in 1958 with the rank of Flying Officer.
