Highlights: Known as Jennie, Sister Whiting completed her nurse training at Sydney Hospital in 1914 and joined the AANS on 21 Aug 1915. Sailed to Cairo, Egypt where she joined 2 AGH on 22 Sep 1915. On 8 Jun 1916 she was transferred to 3 AGH, located at Abbassia and a month later sailed for India where she worked at a Station Hospital before sailing to England, arriving 21 Feb 1917. Jennie served at No 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital (Dartford) until she was sent to 2 AGH Wimereux France, arriving 8 Jan 1918. Later that year Jennie worked at 5 Casualty Clearing Station, as well as 23 and 57 Casualty Clearing Stations for short periods before returning to Australia on 6 May 1919 as nursing staff on the troop ship Kaiser I Hind. She was discharged on 11 Aug 1919. Jennie married Joseph Cuthbert Kershaw in Sydney in 1929 but was widowed 6 years later, she died in 1968.
