Highlights: Elma enlisted on 1 Nov 1915, aged 24 years old, and was a masseuse (physiotherapist) who was enlisted into the AANS as there were no other female services in the AIF. Sailed to Egypt on 4 Apr 1914, and served on the hospital ships Karoola and Nestor and in England. Resigned on 7 Jul 1917 due to marriage. Returned to Aust in early 1919 with her husband and first child, settled in Crookwell and had 3 more children.
